San Pedro de Atacama - Custom Package

What to expect... The Atacama Desert: one of the most dry and desolate places in the world. Rain may not fall for over 10 years in some parts. Yet, in the middle of this barren land lies a town upon a plateau surrounded by an oasis and Andean and salt mountains. Here in San Pedro de Atacama is the starting point for exciting trips in the stunning surroundings. Ride down the large sand dunes on board or bike, or climb up the highest peack for the best vantage point to watch the icy mountain tops glittering in the sunet with a blaze of colored sky in the background. And with the sun setting, comes the bewildering night sky, whose stars are on full display. Wish to see them closer? Visit the ALMA observatory, sure to provide stunning views.

Itinerary

Welcome to the desert! San Pedro de Atacama can be reached either by land from Salta or Bolivia or by plane from Santiago de Chile. We would be happy to organize a transfer for you from the airport to the hotel. Use the rest of your day for a leisurely evening walk through the small village with its mud houses and narrow streets. Stroll through the market with all kinds of handmade crafts, or visit the Archaeological Museum or the listed village church with white facade made of clay and the roof made of cactus wood. If you are looking for culinary delights, you will find it on the main road "Caracoles". Our advice: Grilled fish for a Pisco Sour, the famous cocktail of pisco grape brandy, lime juice, sugar syrup and egg white - absolutely delicious! Have you always wanted to go to the Moon? During today‘s excursion, you’ll see the Moon Valley “Valle de la Luna” which is known for its lush atmosphere amongst a vast dry landscape. The Cordillera de Sal mountain range has been formed and polished elaborately over millions of years from this mixture of water, wind and sun. Marvel at the rough gray "moon gate" of extravagant rock formations and vast canyons. Glittering salt crystals, clays and other minerals give rise to a spectacular play of colors visible in its sensational splendor in twilight. Pause and take in the breathtaking moment when the setting sun bathes the surreal landscape in a different shades of light. Since the trip takes only half a day, you’ll have plenty of time for our offered optional activities.
