Itinerary

Depending on your vacation package through SC Travel, you’ll be arriving to Puerto Varas by various means of travel. From Santiago de Chile, you can either go by bus (the trip takes about 12-15 hours) or by plane. From Argentina, it is best to take a bus to ferry connection. No matter your route, we will be waiting at your arrival to bring you to your hotel. You’ll immediately notice the charm of the city through its unique panorama of Lake Llanquihue and the Osorno Volcano and German-style architecture. You’ll have this first day to explore as you please. From the main road off the hotel, you’ll reach the pier with a wonderful view of the Osorno Volcano. Here you can sit down at one of the cafes or restaurants and enjoy the cute village charm. If you’re wanting to try the local dishes, we recommend the ceviche or congrio, which pair well with a glass of Carménèr wine or a Pisco Sour cocktail. Today you’ll be embarking on a day trip to the nearby island of Chiloé. After driving south on Ruta Panamericana to Puerto Montt, you’ll hop on a ferry to reach the island. Here you’ll also find German-influenced architecture and all-wooden churches! Another unique sight are the Palafitos – small fishermen houses built upon stilts in the water. Then, around noon, you’ll experience a traditional Chiloean lunch (not included), Curanto, a mix of meat, seafood and potatoes all prepared together, covered in leaves, over a coal-filled hole dug in the ground. You’ll also be enjoying this meal with some island locals, so you will have the opportunity to speak with them and learn more about Chilean traditions. After a few hours, you’ll head back to the main land in the late afternoon. First to Puerto Montt and then on to Puerto Varas. Unterkunft im Terrazas del Lago Hotel*     Verpflegung: Breakfast
