India's Golden Triangle Itinerary
Discover the most beautiful and interesting places in India! You'll start at lively New Delhi, head to enchanting Agra and admire the opulent Taj Mahal, a legendary symbol of love. Finally you'll visit Jaipur, a compelling city with palaces, castles and colorful traditional clothing. This tour is sure to be a breath-taking experience!
Welcome to India! If you're not too tired after your flight then you can start exploring your first destination: Delhi. This sprawling city is 3,000 years old and the current capital of India. The contrasts between the old and new areas are significant: numerous attractions await you around every corner. As you stroll through the streets you'll encounter many forts and bazaars, remnants of the Mughal and colonial periods, and more historic buildings located amidst contemporary office buildings, major roads, hotels, and shopping malls.
In the morning you'll meet your guide and then have the rest of the day to continue (or start) exploring Delhi. Highlights in Old Delhi include the Red Fort and the Jama Masjid mosque, the largest in India. New Delhi is a modern metropolis with long, wide and straight streets, pavilions and parks. Between the buildings there are hundreds of monuments; each tells part of the city's storied past. Do not worry if you don’t have enough time to see everything today as you'll have a bit more time to explore Delhi at the end of your trip.
Today we'll leave Delhi early in the morning and drive to Agra to see the spectacular Taj Mahal. The ride is approximately 204 km and will take about five hours, depending on traffic. Once you have arrived you'll have time to explore the area as you like. The Taj Mahal is certainly the highlight, but Agra offers many other spectacular sites. The city was founded in the early 16th century and has many buildings built in the Mughal style, decorated with ornaments, decorations, and pictures. Some attractions in the city are on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Today you go to Fatehpur Sikri, an abandoned imperial city not far from Agra (entry optional). The most impressive remains you'll find here are of the Jama Masjid mosque and the Buland Darwaza, also known as the ‘Gate of Magnificence’. We'll then travel via Abhaneri to Kalakho. Kalakho is the perfect place to experience the village life in India. Maybe you can see how saris and turbans are made or you can try to dance like a "Bollywood" Star.
In the morning you still have time for a game of cricket with the locals or to learn how to fly a kite. Afterwards we will continue our journey to Jaipur.
There are no scheduled activities today so you can explore Jaipur as you'd like to. This is an opportune time to visit the famous Amber Fort, built 600 years before the rest of the city. The actual fortress is located on top of a hill in the center of the city and is surrounded by small fortresses on the other smaller hills. Here you'll find several marble statues and mosaics to admire. It takes about 10 minutes to walk up to the fortress or you can take a jeep (about 5 minutes). The bazaars in Jaipur are another great place for souvenir shopping where you can buy many precious stones, beautiful fabrics, and Indian silver.
Alas, this is the last day of your adventure. You'll have a little more time to explore Jaipur in the morning before we take you back to Delhi (about a six hour drive) where a day room will be waiting for you. We wish you a pleasant journey home and are confident that you'll be taking many fond memories back with you! If you'd like to extend your trip or book another night then our friendly staff will be more than happy to assist you!
